Laker Practice Fights, Bill O’Reilly, and World of Warcraft

Talk about feeling wonky coming off of a vacation.  The Lakers started the 2nd half of the season in grand fashion-starting with a hotly contested battle on exactly who the 3rd string center (now the 2nd string with Bynum injured) really is.

Ladies and gentlemen, witness DJ Mbenga and Chris Mihm-the battle for those glorious 15 minutes that Phil Jackson is forced to give one of them until Andrew comes back.  It could get ugly.  Oh, wait.  According to this video, it did.  You’ll want to turn up your volume to hear the beautiful sounds of a gym practice session.

DJ Mbenga with a Judo sweep (oh yeah, he’s black belt) would be monstrous.  Someone get this guy on UFC.  Oh, was there a real game played as well?

The Lakers hosted the Hawks.  Or should I say the Lakers minus Kobe Bryant?  Kobe scored a season low 10 points on 4-12 shooting.  He also sputtered to only  4 rebounds and 2 assists while committing 4 turnovers.

USA Basketball takes “Black Mamba’s” legs away, and in comes the All-Star game, asking for more.  Save that All-Star MVP performance for the games that matter, Kobester.

Of course, I know who’s really to blame.  Bill O’Reilly.  There he is, telling Kobe the left-wing media is the real reason LeBron James is ahead in the MVP polls.

Gasol continued his all-star run with a triple double (12 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists), and the bench gives us 37 points (Farmar and Ariza absolutely killed it with their defense, hustle, and efficient offense at 10 points apiece).

If both those things don’t happen, and the Hawks don’t shoot a horrendous 2-15 from 3-point range (a scorching 13%), we don’t beat the Hawks 96-83 at home.

The Lakers play the Warriors tomorrow, yet another back-to-back game.  Somebody get Kobe a level 80 Shaman like the one pictured here.  Notice how it took him 33 days worth of playtime to level up.  Somebody please stop me from making World of Warcraft references.

DJ v. Mihm analysis + WOW reference = you are a nerd who likes sports but, in a nerdy sort of way.

It works though. . . I guess (sorry Kev for stealing the ellipsis bit)
