Lakers Can’t Win in Portland

There has always been something about the Lakers playing in Portland in the regular season that the team has not been able to get over.  Perhaps the great fans and playoff atmopshere are just too much to take when L.A. knows that it’s not the playoffs.

Believe it or Not, Roy Misses This Dunk

The Blazers beat the Lakers tonight in Portland, 106-98.  The scary part is, besides Kobe’s 37% shooting from the field, there is not much the Lakers can change.

They did a good job keeping Brandon Roy out of the paint for the most part.  LaMarcus Aldridge was way off (6-18) from the field.  Travis Outlaw didn’t kill them from the bench (he went an awful 2-8 for 10 points).  Bynum, Gasol, and the role players played well.  Yet, the Blazers still won.

What’s also unsettling for Lakers fans is that we know that this team is the heir apparant out West.  There is no team that is so young and so complete.  They will rise when the Lakers start to fall in a few years.  And it seems like the Blazers players and fans know it, and want it now.

The Lakers will beat the Blazers if they meet in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  But time is beginning to favor superstar Brandon Roy and the Portland Trail Blazers.  I can only hope the wheels of time spin slower.
